There is fierce competition amongst low cost countries to attract automotive industry capital investment and jobs.  Attendees will learn how Mexico stacks up in terms of manufacturing costs when compared to developing industrial powerhouses such as China, Brazil, India and others.

About the Speakers / Presenters:

Mr. CLARENCE H. “CHUCK” YAHN

C. H. Yahn has had extensive experience in manufacturing including that of VP Manufacturing for a major international corporation and was personally involved in the startup/management of five maquila companies in Mexico. He has served as President and CEO of manufacturing companies in Latin America, Europe and America. He has been involved in venture capital and entrepreneurial activities in the field of consumer durables and OEM suppliers.

His undergraduate degree is in mathematics/physics and his graduate degree is in International business. He has been on the Board of Directors of the American Graduate School of International Management, and has served on the Boards of National Trade Associations as well as the board of directors of many corporations.

Mr. Yahn joined The Offshore Group as Director of Operations to work with and consult to those firms seeking opportunities to initiate and maintain manufacturing operations in Mexico.

Mr. STEVEN A. COLANTUONI

Steve has been involved in international economic development and trade activities for the past 17 years. During the 1990s, he began his extensive contact with maquiladora industry manufacturers as executive director of U.S.-Mexico border economic development agencies. During this period his use of technology in regional marketing efforts received national recognition.

Steve joined The Offshore Group in 2000, and holds a Master’s Degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh, and is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He also received additional training at the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

His duties with The Offshore Group are in the areas of Market Research, Planning and Communications. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. He is a 2007 appointee to the U.S. Department of Commerce Border District Export Council.
